ECU Remapping in Bedford

Custom diesel remaps written in our own Bedford workshop — checked before, logged after, and explained in plain English.

A remapping workshop, not a van in a car park

AR Performance is a working tuning and engine-build workshop on Shuttleworth Road, on the Elms Farm Industrial Estate in Bedford. Remapping is the same work we do on our own cars: we read your ECU, keep a safe copy of the original, and write the calibration around the hardware that's actually on the car.

That matters because most remap problems start with a generic file. A map that ignores a slipping clutch, a boost leak or a tired turbo will make the car worse, not better. Every car that comes in for a remap gets checked over first, so the power you pay for is power the car can use.

  • Stage 1 remaps for VW, Audi, SEAT, Skoda and BMW diesels
  • Stage 2 and custom maps for hybrid and big-turbo builds
  • Economy and towing maps for vans and working vehicles
  • Original file saved, so the car can always go back to standard
  • Most Stage 1 remaps done the same day — book in by phone or WhatsApp

Check your car before you call

Not sure what your car will make? Pop your reg into our Check Your Car tool. It pulls your car's real factory power and torque and shows the typical gains for each stage, plus the parts that suit it.

Who we remap for around Bedford

Most of our remap customers are local — Bedford, Kempston, Biddenham, Goldington, Putnoe and the villages around them — but plenty travel in from further afield because they want a diesel specialist rather than a general garage. If you're coming from out of town, see our pages for Milton Keynes, Luton and Northampton.

What customers say

★★★★★

“Can not thank Aaron and the team enough. I came in for a quick map, to find out the 6 puk I recently purchased from another company was on its last legs. They pulled my box off and changed the clutch within 3 hours even though they were really busy. AR went above and beyond for me.”

Common questions

Where are you in Bedford?

13A Shuttleworth Road on the Elms Farm Industrial Estate, Bedford MK41 0EP — on the north-east side of town.

How long does a remap take?

A straightforward Stage 1 is normally done the same day. Custom maps for bigger builds take longer because of road logging and refinement.

Can my car go back to standard?

Yes. We save your original ECU file before we write anything, so it can be put back if you ever need it.

Do I need to tell my insurer?

Yes — a remap is a modification and should be declared to your insurer. We'll give you the details of what was done.
